What is chronic rhinitis?

Chronic rhinitis is persistent inflammation of the tissues lining the nose, resulting in symptoms such as a constant runny nose and often post-nasal drip, congestion, coughing, nasal itching, and sneezing. While symptoms may be related to allergies, symptoms from chronic rhinitis may occur all year.

This challenging condition can negatively impact your life in countless ways. And trying to find an effective treatment can be frustrating. Like many, you may manage your symptoms using medications and sprays. Unfortunately, these treatments only provide temporary relief. It’s only when the root cause of your rhinitis is addressed that you can expect to find real, lasting relief.

Symptoms of chronic rhinitis include:

  • Persistently runny nose
  • Post-nasal drip
  • Nasal congestion
  • Itching and sneezing

RhinAer® Treatment

Lasting relief is possible

If any or all of the symptoms listed above sound familiar, you may be one of the millions of people living with chronic rhinitis. Until now, treatment often meant managing symptoms with medications and sprays. For many patients, these symptoms may be caused by abnormal signals in the nose. Now, your physician can offer you RhinAer to disrupt these signals and provide lasting relief. In a clinical study, patients treated with RhinAer experienced significant relief from chronic rhinitis symptoms.1 Patients typically return to normal activity on the same day.*

  • Lasting Relief: Provides lasting relief of symptoms including runny nose, post-nasal drip, and chronic cough.¹
  • Non-invasive solution: Minimal discomfort, no incisions, and can be performed in our office.
  • Live better: In a clinical study, patients reported significant improvements in their symptoms and quality of life.¹

Frequently Asked Questions

Please click any of the boxes below to view their corresponding answer:

1. What exactly is Neuromark, and how does it work?

Neuromark is an innovative, minimally invasive procedure designed to treat chronic rhinitis (a constant runny or stuffy nose). It uses a “smart” technology called bipolar radiofrequency energy to target overactive nerves in the nasal passage. By calming these specific nerves, the procedure stops the constant signals that tell your nose to produce excess mucus and swelling.

2. Is the procedure painful, and how long does it take?

The procedure is designed with patient comfort in mind and is typically performed right here in our office. We use local anesthesia to numb the area, so most patients feel only minor pressure rather than pain. The actual treatment usually takes less than 30 minutes, and you can often drive yourself home afterward.

3. How soon will I see results, and how long do they last?

While every patient is different, many begin to notice a significant reduction in congestion and “post-nasal drip” within two to six weeks as the nasal lining heals. Because Neuromark addresses the root cause (the nerves) rather than just masking symptoms, the relief is intended to be long-lasting, potentially eliminating the need for daily nasal sprays or pills.

4. What is the recovery time like?

One of the biggest benefits of Neuromark is the minimal downtime. Most patients return to their normal daily activities and work the very next day. You may experience some mild congestion or “crusting” in the nose for a few days following the treatment, which is a normal part of the healing process and can be managed with simple saline rinses.

5. Am I a good candidate for Neuromark?

If you suffer from a persistent runny nose, frequent sneezing, or chronic congestion that hasn’t responded well to over-the-counter medications or allergy shots, you may be an excellent candidate. It is particularly effective for those with “vasomotor rhinitis” (rhinitis triggered by temperature changes, odors, or food) or those who are tired of the side effects of daily medications.

6. What are the symptons that Neuromark treats?

Neuromark provides long-lasting relief for patients dealing with the frustrating symptoms of overactive nasal nerves, including:

  • Runny nose and congestion
  • Post-nasal drip
  • Frequent throat clearing
  • Chronic cough or irritated throat
  • “Lump in the throat” sensation
  • Tonsil stones
